It's Totally Original!!!1

So I just noticed an interesting trend between the two most popular syfy franchises in current history.

Star Trek/Star Trek: The Next Generation - A crew uses a starship to travel to strange unknown planets discovering mysteries and battling enemies

Stargate: SG-1 - A team use a stargate to travel to strange unknown planets discovering mysteries and battling enemies

*****

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - A crew mans a space station at the center of a galactic conflict and discovers the secrets of it's wormhole

Stargate: Atlantis - A team mans a lost city at the center of a galactic conflict and discovers the secrets of it's ancient technology

*****

And now...

Star Trek: Voyager - A crew mans a starship that is lost on the other side of the galaxy and must fend for themselves as they make the slow journey back home while discovering new planets

Stargate: Universe - A crew mans a starship that is discovered on the other side of the galaxy and must fend for themselves as they make the slow journey back home while discovering new planets

*****

What's next, Stargate: Origins, in which we learn the full history of how the stargates were seeded across the galaxy as they do battle with time traveling aliens only to find that the whole series was actually a holographic log watched by Dr. Jackson that showed the history of the stargates?

Very original, guys...

Equal Under The Law

I'm not for the legalization of gay marriage.

But I'm for the criminalization of straight marriage.

You know what makes "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever" so great?

The fact that I can turn it on at any point in the movie and watch it and not be lost.

But that's only because of it's complete lack of plot...

Pro-Choice

I think being gay is a choice.

Just like being poor, being black, and being retarded are choices too.

Divinity and Politics

God is a Republican & Christ is a Democrat.

Christianity & Comic Books

If religious figures are anything like comic book figures, then Wolverine's character going from brooding individualist who does the dirty work to team leader and co-founder of the X-Men so as to replace Cyclops' roles makes me wonder if Judas was in fact the Messiah and Jesus was really a dickish anti-hero who got all the chicks until the story of his crucifixion became so popular that the Bible had to be rewritten for the sake of audience appeal.

Fiction & Politics

If we can use "24" as evidence in a political debate concerning torture, can we use "Superman" as evidence in a political debate concerning immigration or "Batman" as evidence in a political debate concerning gun control?

Traditional Marriage

I believe in the traditional view of marriage. I believe that I should be able to strike a deal with a father so that I can acquire his 15-year-old daughter, along with her 14-year-old and 13-year-old sisters, to be my brides and have the father give me a herd of goats for the trouble.
